 | ShopSmith Combination Woodworking Machine - Questions |
|
I have never seen nor used a ShopSmith unit but have been offered a 1958
model. What is your experience with this equipment? Can it be fixed or
repaired. Does the company still exist?
---------------------
-The company is still around and the machine probably can be fixed.
A new one is about the same price as all the individual tools that it
mimics. The TS setup is too tall and the table is too small. It does make
a good lather however. -The current Shopsmith company no longer makes the old mark5 unit that I believe
you have. There is a shopsmith users group. Go to Shopsmith.com and surf
around. In the woodworking links area there are a lot of user groups if you
scroll down the page. With these resources you should be able to get ahold of
spare parts for that unit and get it goin. Theyre nice for casual woodwork.
Not really accurate but nice if one needs a quick thingamagig cut and your
drill press or lathe or table saw are allready set up for something else.
