| I am reading up on boat woodworking and run into some things I don't
know of here in Europe: Aerolite glue: What kind of glue is it, and what would the European
equivalent be? Dado set: I don't recall I have ever seen this (but then again, I am
not a woodworker). If this method is not common on this side of the
world, what would be the appropriate way to achieve the same result?
---------------------
Aerolite glue is a sort of resorcinol that is traditionally used in
wooden aircraft construction. Generally replaced by epoxy but still
popular with home built aircraft. Much easier to find in Europe than
US. The manufacturer is DynoChem UK, Ltd, Alan Works

some point on its surface other than the edge. A dado set is a set of
two circular saw blades with opposing relief angles and several chipper
inserts and shims that mounts on a table saw. They are stacked on the
saw arbor in various thicknesses to produce a flat bottomed groove
called dado. You should be able to find them at any half way decent
woodworking store anywhere in the world. Largest international
manufacturer is Frued. See
http://www.woodmagazine.com/woodmall/charts/dado_sets/ A less expensive but very poor substitute is the wobble type dado blade.
It is a single blade mounted on an adjustable collar that sets the
blade at an angle to the arbor so that it wobbles across the width of
the material.
