 | Japaneese Woodworking |

I am fairly new to wood working ( I have only made a table (simple
table ), bench and a small rack ) but I am very interested in
Japanese wood working (not contemporary wood working but some of the
older traditional woodworking ) and am wondering if anyone knows where I
can find information about it.

-I believe that there was abook you could get on Japanese joinery (fascinating stuff) through Lee Valley Tools in Ottawa, Ontario,
Canada. Exchange is $1.50 US to $1.00 Can, roughly. Try
http://www.leevalley.com . - There's a cool website that features a fair amount on Japanese
woodworking, including some cool pictures of Japanese joinery. Check it
out at: http://www.ne.jp/asahi/magical/pocket/english/jtflm.htm -Two good sources are WWW.Japanwoodworker.com in Alameda, Ca. Another place
in Alameda County, Ca. would be WWW.Hidatool.com Two great places for
Japanese tools. Two books you might consider would be Shoji Making (not sure
of exact title), by Jay Van Arsdale and the other book considered by some as
the bible of Japanese woodworking, Japanese Woodworking Tools, Their
Tradition, Spirit and Use, by Toshio Odate.
