 | looking for an old 'popular woodworking' article |
|
| i read a passing comment by someone about the homemade dovetail jigs they
make based on a article in the sept '99 'popular woodworking. i'm cheap so
shopmade is good by me. i went to the website and yes that is one of their
most requested articles/issue. however, they no longer have any back
issues. i have 3 ?s. 1. is the end result of the jig worth the search for the mag? 2. does/can the jig make variable spaced joints? 3. can someone email a pdf or a xerox of the article?

Shop Accessories You Can Build, The best of Fine Woodworking, by Taunton, has
among a few other great articles, an article on a home made dovetail jig that
does, through dovetails with varying spacing. I bought the book just for that article, figuring that the $15 was about 10% of
the cost of a decent jig. I haven't actually built one yet, but Fine
Woodworking doesn't generally print, (definitely doesn't reprint), things that
don't work as advertised. Admittedly some of the articles are a little too
esoteric for most of us but then again, you never know when you might need a
thickness sander.
