Powermatic vrs Unisaw

I was considering buying the Unisaw (The Great White) and someone simply said why would you pay that kind of money when for another $200-$300 you could buy a powermatic and you will be alot happier.

Anyone have any opinions or experience with the Powermatic?

---------------------

I have owned a Unisaw for over 10 years and it has worked flawlessly. I too sometimes wondered if I would have been better off with a Powermatic since it seems so much more beefy. Well, I just bought a Powermatic 8" model 60 jointer and it arrived with lots of problems which I posted in the website so for the sake of saving some bandwidth look it up via deja news. The bottom line is PM charges top dollar and they have absolutely no customer service. I have been trying to correct problems with the jointer for 2 months without success and I paid $2100 for the jointer.

If I were you I would narrow my choices down to General or Delta as far as tablesaws go. I'm that opinion is going to generate some controversy but based on my experience PM is not worth the extra money and always remember you will have no support what so ever if you ever need parts or technical advice.
