Quality Woodworking Machinery: Does it still exist?

Delta stuff is junky, plastic, lightweight, cheap metals. The Asian-built tools are not bad for the money, but they are not "top notch" equipment like the old Powermatic stuff. Powermatic itself seems to be producing Asian-built stuff, and I understand it's future is uncertain (yes, I spent some time in Deja, thanks for the suggestion in prior thread). Jet seems decent, but again, not up to the old standards. Where, exactly, does one get decent woodworking equipment these days? And BTW, can anyone tell me where good quality used equipment can be found, preferably in the Northeast US?

---------------------

Buy old American machines from Delta, Walker-Turner, Powermatic, Parks, Dewalt, etc. Look at the classified section of Woodshop News magazine
(www.woodshopnews.com) for used machinery dealers. On of the biggest in the northeast is Rudolf Bass in Jersey City NJ. Plaza Machinery in Vermont is another good source. Of course used machinery dealers aren't always a bargain. Perhaps THE BEST way to buy is from a school selling out the wood & metal shops (thats where dealers get a lot of their stuff!).
