Rigid brand

Just a quick question. The local Home despot is harping Rigid brand table saws, jointers, drill press etc. I am considering the table saw for my shop has anyone heard anything about them good or otherwise? That aside you can imagine how hard it was to ask the salesgirl at the display "so do you like Rigid tools?" only to have her go into a sales pitch extolling that Rigid tools were wonderfull! One of the local manufacturing plants has all kinds of rigid tools! I almost died when she told me she got her husband one, he loves it and uses it all the time! (Hmm no one beats a Rigid tool?) Any way all pun aside let me know what you have heard.

---------------------

-IIRC the Rigid brand is made by the same company that used to make Craftsman for Sears before they went cheapo.

-I've got the older top of the line, 2424 model. It is, AFAIK, identical to the current TOL 3612 except for the fence.

It doesn't match my Unisaw, but my Unisaw won't work here, where I've got a single 15 amp 110 circuit.

It's a good saw, runs decently, the fence is decent (but I'm going to replace it with an HTC Biese clone as soon as it warms up a tad and I won't free my butt off doing so), should last some time, the saw has good power, low vibration, generally works well, cuts nicely even with the stock blade (Emerson also owns Vermont-American, so gets their top of the line blades to install off the mark...but I'm using a Freud 410 for general use, and a DeWalt 30 tooth rip for non-general uses, with a Freud rip ready to go on when the DW dulls).

Emerson Tool, div. of Emerson Electric, makes the Ridgid line, and does, IMO, a good job.
